On Saturday, October 29th I hosted a public consultation for budget 2017.
In the past year, we as a government took important steps towards helping middle class families regain the confidence they’ll need to drive our economy forward:
- We introduced the middle class tax cut which put more money into the pockets of 9 million Canadians.
- We rolled out the Canada Child Benefit which will help 9 out 10 families and lift 300,000 children out of poverty.
- We strengthened the Canada Pension Plan so that Canadians can have a secure and dignified retirement.
In our next Budget, we will build on this momentum and focus on the long-term – transforming the economy to strengthen the middle class and position Canada for the global economy of tomorrow. Thank you to everyone from Whitby who came out to join the conversation. As your MP it is my priority to ensure that budget 2017 addresses the needs of my constituents. I will be taking all the information gathered from our discussion and bringing it back to Ottawa.
